IK Multimedia AmpliTube 5 is out now, brings over 120 new models

After nearly 20 years of producing high-quality affordable amp sims, IK Multimedia is back with yet another AmpliTube update for 2020. This time around, AmpliTube 5 packs a major punch with some hefty updates across the board. Here’s everything you can expect to find with your purchase of AmpliTube 5.

IK Multimedia AmpliTube 5 Features

AmpliTube 5 was initially teased by a video posted by IK Multimedia about a month and some change ago. Depicting shots of a distant planet of guitars, with an astronaut roaming around. Speculation quickly rose throughout the week as to what it could be. Not long after, we learned it was in fact a trailer for the soon-to-arrive AmpliTube 5. Now that AmpliTube 5 has ‘landed’, it brings with it a whopping 129 new amp models. In addition to what users have had at their disposal already, the complete collection of the latest edition tops off at over 400. Additionally, IK Multimedia gave AmpliTube’s user interface a new ‘re-size’ feature. Which will come in very handy to users looking to resize their windows to the heart’s content. Improvements were also implemented to gestures such as dragging and dropping equipment, and adding multiple effects at once.

The final big improvement that AmpliTube 5 brings along is its introduction of VIR technology. Standing for Volumetric Impulse Response, the new technology puts a new spin on the relationship between simulated amp and cab. This also results in a more realistic sound when virtually placing microphones, for a more 3D feel. Once users play around with it, they can also save and load their own IR’s to use whenever desired.

IK Multimedia AmpliTube 5 is now available now in four packages on the company website. T who want to dip their toes in before diving into a purchase, can pick up AmpliTube 5 Custom Shop for free. One step up from that is AmpliTube 5 SE, available at $99.99 for a limited time before it hikes back up to $149.99. The AmpliTube 5 Standard package can be purchased now for $149.99, and is typically $199.99. Finally, those who want the full experience can get AmpliTube 5 Max at $299.99 for a few days, before it returns to its normal price of $399.99.
