Epiphone and Gibson collaborate on Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul guitar

If you’ve spent time searching for a Les Paul at an affordable price, we have some good news for you. Epiphone and Gibson Custom Shop have teamed up, and together they’ve crafted a new take on an old classic. The 1959 style Les Paul has remained to this day one of the most sought after cuts. This goes especially to actual ’59 original issues, however it will always remain difficult to find great deals on that. But the fact that Epiphone and Gibson Custom Shop have now worked together on a modernized approach may help set you at ease.

Epiphone & Gibson Custom Shop ’59 Les Paul

This is the very first collaboration between Epiphone and GCS. With that said, we can certainly expect this limited edition model to include some top-tier components inside. It includes two Gibson USA Burstbucker pickups, and a Switchcraft selector switch and output jack. Also installed are CTS pots, 50’s-era wiring, as well as Mallory capacitors. As for cosmetics, this new collab has a long neck tenon with a comfortable 1959 hand-rolled neck profile. It has a mahogany body with a maple top, and a AAA figured maple veneer. Finally, it is topped off with a non-beveled pickguard and Epiphone deluxe vintage tuners. Buyers can select between either Aged Dark Burst, or Aged Dark Cherry Burst (pictured) finishes for their guitar.

The Epiphone & GCS custom guitar ships in a classic-style brown hard case. As is true for many other releases from Epiphone, this new take on an old model was made with affordability in mind. With the gigging world on hold, and little money coming in for musicians, this is a good move on its part. The ’59 style Les Paul collaboration was made available for pre-order on Epiphone’s website at $799. However, it seems as though both finishes have since sold out, and due to its limited nature, we are unsure if the company plans to restock its inventory with more models. But definitely keep an eye out, because the possibility is there that it will take notice of the guitar’s massive popularity.
