PreSonus upgrades Studio One to version 4.5 with an array of new features

If you’re a fan of PreSonus products, or actively use its popular DAW Studio One, this piece of news is for you. For a very long time, users have been talking about the software and requesting new features to bring this workstation up to snuff with their individual workflows. Now, it seems that PreSonus has answered these prayers with a brand new upgrade to Studio One, version 4.5.

So what’s in the new update? The team at PreSonus has received a lot of questions and requests in recent years about some key features that were lacking at the time. As a response, it laid out all of its critiques in plain sight, and included many of them in this update.

The first, and largest request from consumers has been for multi-core optimization for running many virtual instruments at once. When users loaded an engine with a multitude of software instruments, the CPU power would easily get eaten up, slowing down your process. Now with version 4.5, the CPU load has been slashed by 70% when running native plugins, and by about 50% when using third-party instruments. Additionally, this new update brings features such as expanded input, gain staging, polarity options, channel customization, routing and metering updates, track locking, and enhanced MIDI editing to your tracks to make using Studio One a more intuitive process than ever before.

Another big concern from users was the limit to how one could edit track groups. Version 4.5 of Studio One shines new light on this area as well. According to its website, “Groups can now be nested, (great for drums) named, colored, and assigned to keyboard shortcuts for enable/disable. Furthermore, groups now have attributes for defining Edit Groups or Mix Groups, including Volume, Pan, Mute/Solo, and more.” This new update brings grouping tracks into what is widely expected of a flagship DAW these days, so we are happy to see that PreSonus has taken the initiative on this.
