NAMM 2026: The Solid State Logic UMD192 is a portable USB, Dante, and MADI audio interface

Solid State Logic stepped into the audio interface arena in 2020. They’ve been pushing the envelope ever since, and at NAMM 2026 they announced their most sophisticated unit yet in the UMD192.

This two-channel desktop design is packed with the inimitable SSL sound, but what makes it truly unique is the Dante and MADI connectivity integration. The conversion is top notch, the routing is flexible, and it gives you up to 192 total digital channels (two analog) when it runs at 48kHz and 96kHz, or 128 channels at a 192kHz sample rate. All in a half-rack size enclosure.

Key features

It connects to a computer through USB 3.0 and can be powered via AC mains, USB bus power, or ethernet and there is redundancy support. Clocking is perfect, as it has to be to support Dante and MADI, and the metal enclosure is built like a tank.

Distinct metering provides readouts over signal flow, sample rate match, engaged connections, and power status. The front panel controls have a lockout feature to prevent unwanted changes, which comes in especially useful in a live sound setting.

Scenario matching

The UMD192 is one of the most unique audio interfaces you’ll find. In fact, it might be the only desktop-size model that supports the Dante and MADI standards. If you’re new to those worlds it will probably take some time to get familiar with it, but that level of feature set combined with the venerable SSL sound and quality makes this one of the most interesting new pieces of kit at NAMM 2026.
