NAMM 2026: Nord Electro 7 is the best Electro yet

Nord keyboards and digital pianos are top-of-the-line. The new Electro 7 announced at NAMM 2026 is one of the most full-featured and best-sounding models in their impressive product selection.

It’s available in three different models and introduces a total synthesizer section, redesigned user interface and dedicated effects processing per section that’s destined to be considered an instant classic.

Serious synthesis

Certainly the most versatile model in the Electro line, the last addition – the Electro 6 – to it was revealed all the way back at NAMM 2018. Because Nord digital pianos have such a robust sound library and editing capabilities it needs a user interface that’s just as robust. The company reimagined the user interface to make crafting the sonics more intuitive.

There is a new virtual-analog hybrid synthesizer section that runs on sample-based synthesis that includes a virtual analog synth section with some standard FM (frequency modulation) capabilities.

It can be played in mono or legato, and there’s a glide mode that’s great for expressive performance. Dual ADR envelopes control the amps, filter, FM blend, vibrato, and low-pass filter. The onboard sounds have a good amount of depth. And the weighted, hammer-action keybed offers the most realistic acoustic piano feel yet.

Three versions

As mentioned it comes in three different versions. The 73-key and 61-key versions come equipped with a semi-weighted waterfall keybed. But the prime model is a 73-key version outfitted with a triple-sensor Hammer Action Portable Keyboard from Kawai – another respected keyboard and synthesizer manufacturer.
