NAMM 2025: The DW MFG True-Cast Snare is a true collector’s item

DW had some serious weight in their new product announcements at NAMM 2025, and one drum kit centerpiece took center stage – the MFG True-Cast Snare. Not just for its attention-grabbing looks, but for its insane manufacturing and sound qualities as well as the attention to detail in the craftsmanship.

Build

Part of their Collectors Series, the DW MFG True-Cast Snare is a limited run 7×14″ sand-cast snare with a machined Bell Bronze shell and hardware. It’s a collaboration build with DW endorsee and collector Dave Elitch and DW’s research and development team.

The contoured interior shape ranges from 5mm to the top and bottom edges and 3mm in the center. It brings a fat sound with a lot of weight in the low end.

Hardware

It’s visually impressive, but the hardware is what sets it apart. True-Cast counter hoops, Mini Turret Lugs, Mini MAG’ throw-off, and True-Pitch machined brass tension rods.

Twenty-strand True-Tone snare wires provide a cutting crack to the tone, and it ships with single-ply snare heads.

Aesthetics

This limited-run snare drum has some seriously impressive looks. It’s all brass shell is a muted champagne hue, and the lugs have a darker tint – almost gold in appearance.

Limited Edition

To call the DW MFG True-Cast Snare “limited edition” is an understatement. Only 100 units will be produced, and each comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Each unit also comes with a durable limited edition DW MFG flight case to keep this high-value investment protected during transport or when in storage.

The DW MFG True-Cast Snare is available for $3,999 at select retailers.
