iZotope RX8 brings 32 audio tracks and better editing tools

iZotope is well known as one of the most innovative modern plugin developers. Throughout its existence, it regularly delivers mind blowing software again and again. After two years since iZotope introduced its seventh installment of RX, the company has now unveiled another. iZotope RX8 is the newest member of the RX post-production editing suite, and its latest offered features are certainly nothing to sleep on. With this in mind, here’s what one can expect from RX8.

What’s New?

With each new edition of iZotope‘s famed RX suite of plugins, something new and exciting has always sat at the forefront. This time around is certainly no different. RX8, much like the last few RX suites, is available in three different packages. These include the basic RX8 Elements, RX8 Standard, as well as RX8 Advanced. Because of this, some of the new things that iZotope brought to the table is dependent on the specific package.

• Spectral Recovery (Advanced) – Applies restoration to audio with limited bandwith, restoring higher frequencies above 4kHz. Adds articulation and quality back into recordings.
• Wow and Flutter (Advanced) – Corrects variations and drift in pitches, associated with errors in tape or vinyl playback. Users should utilize ‘Wow’ in longer, more drastic pitch shifts, and ‘Flutter’ during variations with faster frequencies.
• Loudness Control (Advanced & Standard) – Users can pre-load loudness targets, to let RX8 know around the maximum loudness level desired, iZotope will automatically adjust its settings to fit those requirements.
• Guitar De-Noise (Advanced & Standard) – Much like the technology found in previous RX versions with ‘Voice De-Noise,’ Guitar De-Noise hones in on guitar-specific noise range patterns, allowing users to reduce that noise for a cleaner guitar recording.
• 32 Audio Tab Limit (Advanced, Standard, & Elements) – As an added feature, up to 32 audio tracks can now simultaneously be analyzed and edited in RX8.
• Horizontal Scrolling (Advanced, Standard, & Elements) – iZotope‘s spectral graph editor now includes a horizontal scrolling feature for faster editing ability.

Aside from this, many returning contenders from past RX suites also got facelifts. This includes improvements to Music Rebalance, its Batch Processor, and De-Hum as well. As far as prices go, this is also dependent on which RX8 package you desire. For starters, RX8 Elements will be available for $99, RX8 Standard will be $299, and RX8 Advanced for $999. After a short while however, prices will hike back up to standard, sitting at $129, $399, and $1,199, respectively.
