NAMM 2013: Slash Marshal SL-5

The first product that caught my attention from NAMM was the new Marshall Slash SL-5. This new 5-watt combo amp is a collaboration with Slash and Marshall and is aimed at those that might be living in an apartment, or who might not need a high powered Marshall stack. It provides 2 channels – clean and overdrive – both of which are Slash approved, although I’m not quite sure what exactly that means. The amp is also all tube for that classic sound. When I first read about this amp, I have to admit to being a little skeptical – it seems like just another Marshall amp with Slash’s name on it. However I’ve since warmed to the idea and I think it will be a great addition to the Marshall line, mainly because of the fact that it is one of the first Marshall amps at only 5 watts to provide 2 channels. It should fill a nice little niche of apartment bound guitar players and similar situations, while still providing that classic Marshall sound.Marshall SL-5
