Everything you need to know about the new Fender Player series

Fender is entering a new era. The company has announced the new Fender Player series — aimed at replacing the standard series of Mexican-made guitars. It’s not just a name change either — there are 21 models of guitar in the new lineup, and new features include Alnico pickups, satin-finished maple necks, new bridges, new finishes, and a redesigned logo.

The news makes sense. For starters, the name “Standard series” is a bit lame, and it makes sense to roll all the new features into a newly-named lineup. As mentioned, there are a number of new finishes available, including Sage Green, Polar White, Tidepool, Buttercream, and Sonic Red. Thankfully, they’ll come at a similar price to the Standard series too, starting at around $650.

Fender Player Stratocaster
