NAMM 2013: Pearl P-930 Demonator

A couple years after the release of Pearls Demon Drive pedal, their first endeavor into the direct drive world, we now see the Pearl P-930 Demonator, a chain driven Demon style bass drum pedal. The Pearl Demonators features include interchangeable cams and a Powershifter pedal board. Now, my first thought about this pedal when I saw it was, that looks great but what makes it any different from previous pedals by Pearl? Besides the looks of course. Well after delving a little Pearl P-930deeper into the features of this new pedal it seems that there are in fact few features which make this pedal any better than previous models. When it comes right down to it I think Pearl is really just trying to make all their hardware more uniform and better looking. Despite this, if you like the look of Pearls Demon style pedals then definitely go for this pedal. Even though it may not be a huge step up from previous models, those previous models were already excellent in function and design, and are Pearl is considered by many, including myself, to make the best drum hardware available. This pedal is also an expected release after Pearl released the P-3000C
a couple months ago. All that remains is a demon drive style Hi-Hat pedal, which I’m sure we will see in the coming months. In the meantime, you can check out Pearls Eliminator pedal, an amazing pedal which I use myself, and I’m not thinking of upgrading.
