QSC KLA

Friends, family, engineers in dark dirty venues that barely see the light of day, I have hope for you. Some of know (or may not know) of the brand  QSC. These audio sleepers are starting to reinvent the way we see powered speakers. When I say powered speakers at my job, people immediately think of Mackie or Behringer, sometimes EV, but nothing like the QSC brand. The throw on the K10’s…...[Read More]

NAMM 2013: Peavey Vypyr VIP

Another huge release from NAMM is Peaveys new Vypyr VIP series of amps. But here’s the catch. These amps can handle electric guitar, acoustic guitar AND bass. All in one amp. Now, is this just a gimmick and it’s really a low quality amp? Maybe. We will find out. Peavey certainly has its fair share of quality products, such as the Peavey Triple XXX II and the Peavey 6505+. Obviously the...[Read More]

NAMM 2013: Pearl P-930 Demonator

A couple years after the release of Pearls Demon Drive pedal, their first endeavor into the direct drive world, we now see the Pearl P-930 Demonator, a chain driven Demon style bass drum pedal. The Pearl Demonators features include interchangeable cams and a Powershifter pedal board. Now, my first thought about this pedal when I saw it was, that looks great but what makes it any different from pre...[Read More]

NAMM 2013: Moog Sub Phatty

The name Moog is legendary. The classic sound of an analog Moog synth is unparalleled. And they’re at it again! Moog’s latest release is the Moog Sub Phatty, which includes two variable waveshape oscillators, one square wave sub oscillator, and one noise generator. This synth has been dubbed the “grittiest Moog ever”, and after hearing a number of demos, I can say that I ag...[Read More]

NAMM 2013: Behringer iX16

Yes, it’s true, I am not a Behringer fan. Most of their gear seems a little flimsy and frankly not very appealing, with a few exceptions. However their newest release did catch my eye. It seems that the iPad is becoming more and more a part of the digital audio world today with the release of the iX16, an iPad controlled mixer which also doubles as an 18 channel USB interface. Here’s t...[Read More]

NAMM 2013: New Snare Drums by Gretsch

Another bit of juicy news from NAMM is the arrival of a bunch of new snare drums by Gretsch. There are 3 new models on the list including drums made from Brass, Walnut and a Stave model which can be made from Oak or Cherry. The brass model is 6.5″ x 14″, and includes 10 lugs. Joe Mazza, the product manager for Gretsch Snare Drums has been quoted as saying that the “Bell Brass giv...[Read More]

NAMM 2013: Slash Marshal SL-5

The first product that caught my attention from NAMM was the new Marshall Slash SL-5. This new 5-watt combo amp is a collaboration with Slash and Marshall and is aimed at those that might be living in an apartment, or who might not need a high powered Marshall stack. It provides 2 channels – clean and overdrive – both of which are Slash approved, although I’m not quite sure what exactly that means...[Read More]
