NAMM 2013: Orange Divo VT1000 Valve Tester

Note: Valve = Tube

One of the most practical and useful releases from NAMM this year has to be from Orange, with the release of its new valve tester. Orange is known worldwide for its quality tube amps and this new product is sure to be a great addition to Oranges arsenal. This release is revolutionary. Before now, it was almost impossible to know the state of your tubes without some knowledge of tube theory, and results were often not reliable. Oranges new Valve Tester changes all of that. Not only is it now easy for anyone to test their valves, but it requires no previous knowledge of how they work. In my opinion it is always good for someone to know how their gear works anyway, but that’s Orange Valve Testera different topic altogether.

The Valve Tester features support for different valve types, with one octal socket and two nine pin sockets. The way that the Orange Valve Tester works is that you simply plug in your valve to the device and press start. The results will be shown on the screen and voila! You now know what shape your valves are in. The Valve Tester will be released in a couple months, and is a great portable solution to knowing whether your valves are worn, good, or bad.
